Afternoon nap

An hour of nap in the afternoon can recharge a person's brain power and improve the brain's memory. Scientists have found that a short nap makes it easier for the brain to store and retrieve items of short term information needed for working or studying.
Infants need to sleep many times a day. Sleep is very beneficial for a developing infant.
Children need to take a 90 minute nap.
Pregnant ladies in the third trimester also will benefit from a short nap in the afternoon.

According to Dr. Sara Mednick member of National Sleep Foundation and Associated Professional Sleep Societies a nap has numerous benefits as follows:

• Increases your on the job alertness by 100 percent.
• Sharpens your thinking so you make more accurate judgments and better decisions.
• Ramps up your productivity.
• Regenerates skin cells so you look younger.
• Increases your sex drive.
• Helps you lose weight by altering metabolism and shifting chemicals that affect appetite.
• Reduces your risk of heart attack, stroke, irregular heartbeat, high blood pressure, and other cardiovascular problems.
• Lifts your mood by bathing your brain in the neurotransmitter serotonin.
• Speeds up your ability to perform motor tasks, like typing, operating machinery, even swimming.
• Improves your accuracy in everything.
• Improves the way your body processes carbs, which reduces your risk of diabetes.
• Sharpens your senses so you take in what's important in your environment.
• Puts your brain into its creative gear so you can come up with fresh ideas.
• Triggers a naturally occurring hormone that blocks the destructive chemicals produced by stress.
• Boosts your ability to learn something new and better yet, remember it.
• Zaps the need for drugs like caffeine and alcohol to manipulate your mood and energy level.
• Relieves migraines
• Actually improves your nighttime sleep.
• Makes you feel good all over

Our Brain

Human brain is the most developed brain among all the living beings. Everyone wants to be smart and have Einstein's brain.(by the way Einstein's brain is of regular size but Scientific studies have suggested that regions involved in speech and language are smaller, while regions involved with numerical and spatial processing are larger. Other studies have suggested an increased number of Glial cells in Einstein's brain.) If you forget things here or there is OK. But if you see the keys to your car and think what it is for then you are in verge of Alzheimer disease. Following are few things you can do to help your brain.

-Brain needs oxygen. Alcohol and smoking are in general bad for us but they are also very bad for our brains.

-Sleep always at the same time. Let your body build its natural clock.

-Before your sleep recall the daily events. (While you are doing that thank god for everything!)

-Get more engaged. Work as long as you can, volunteer, take a course, learn something new or take care of a pet. Mental exercise is very important for our brain. Brain always needs to learn, this way it will get better. Listen to music or play an instrument.

-Have a good balance diet: 30% Complex Carbohydrates , 40% Proteins and 30% good Fats.

To perk up your brain and to be more alert, eat a meal that: Contains high proteins, moderate amount of sugars from mainly low "glycemic index" (GI) complex carbohydrates and relatively low in calories.

To relax, or easily fall asleep, eat a meal that: Contains low proteins, high amount of complex carbohydrates foods, and be high in calories.

-Make sure you have enough intake of food with folic acids or supplement of folic acids.

-Exercise or walking in fresh air makes your endorphin to go up and this in turn sends oxygen to the brain.

-Constantly tell your brain observe more. look at the things around you and observe it and take it in. How many times you went somewhere and did not notice anything and just skimped through.

-Fat is also very important for our brain. Babies and older people need more good fats for development and functioning of their brains. The most rapid brain growth occurs during the first year of life, with the infant's brain tripling in size by the first birthday. Around fifty percent of the calories in mother's milk comes from fat and is the best milk for infants.

-The most important thing that you can do is to have a positive and happy attitude in life. Believe and demand that you will live a long and productive life. If there is a gene deficiency in your brain get help with correct drugs. The correct drug and talking with professionals will add and boost the required neuron in your brain to make you have a better and in turn a longer life.

ABC signs of a healthy person!

When my parents used to go to the Doctor; the doctor would look at them and take their heart beat from their pulse, and he knew what was wrong with them. I think the doctor mostly would deduce his findings from their physical presence. The following are some of the attributes of a healthy person. You can find the reasons and cures for all these items in this blog now or in the future.

BMI Calculator

BMI stands for Body Mass Index. It measures the ratio of one's body weight to their height. It also tries to give an idea of the amount of body fat a person has. Two people can have the same BMI but different levels of body fat(because Muscle weighs more than fat). A high percentage of body fat increases the chances of heart disease, Type II diabetes, and cancers. *******************************************
